Prof. Coffey’s main research interest is relaxation phenomena in condensed matter. He is the Irish representative on the newly formed EU COST Action MP1006 on Fundamental Problems in Quantum Physics and has longstanding research collaborations with Professor Yuri Kalmykov Hon. FTCD of the University of Perpignan, Dr. Sergey V Titov of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Professor D S F Crothers Hon. FTCD QUB.

Prof. Coffey is Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Dublin, Trinity College. He is a Fellow of the American Physical Society, a Member of the Royal Irish Academy, Holder of an Honorary Doctorate from the University of Perpignan, and a member of the Editorial Board of the famous series Advances in Chemical Physics.
