Dr. Rafferty’s research mainly involves processing and characterisation of ceramic and glass materials, often with controllable porous structures.

Dr. Aran Rafferty has received a MEngSC degree in Microelectronics from University College Cork and a PhD in Materials Science from the University of Limerick in 1999. Since then he has worked for various organisations; Schools of Chemistry, and Electronic Engineering in Trinity College Dublin, part-time lectured for the Dublin Institute of Technology, and also served a period of time in industry. Five years were spent at Dublin City University’s Materials Processing Research Centre. He is a member of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining as a Chartered Engineer.
