Professor Valeria Nicolosi, (pictured) Trinity College Dublin was awarded the RDS / Intel Prize Lecture for Nanoscience 2012. The Prize Lecture will take place in the RDS on November 20th.

Supported by The Irish Times, the medal award and the winner’s lecture which accompanies it was introduced to highlight the accomplishments being made by researchers here in nanotechnology and advanced-materials science.

The award this year was for an early-career stage scientist based in Ireland. An early-career stage scientist is an individual who has been awarded their PhD degree within the last eight years.

Those eligible were scientists working in the field of nanoscience. This includes, but is not limited to, those working in the areas of advanced materials, photonics, electronics, biology and their applications. All nominations will be assessed based on a candidate’s demonstrated excellence in their field of research and their communication and outreach skills.
